335 On The Ridge

335 On the Ridge – Review June 17, 2017

On Saturday evening, we decided to have dinner at the newest restaurant in Ridgeway, 335 On the Ridge. Silly us, we didn’t have a reservation but the staff were very accommodating and offered up two different sitting options; either on the front patio or in the lounge. We opted for the patio.

Laura was our server and was very welcoming. All menu items fit on one page which helps someone like me that gets overwhelmed with too many options. While the pricing is a little high for the area (think Toronto pricing), it is not something we haven’t seen before. Cocktails are priced at $9 with martinis at $10. They all sounded yummy but we decided to get a couple of beers instead. Entrees ranged in price from approximately $16 for the gourmet pizzas to market price of $46 for the steak that evening.

We decided to order a few things to share. I must comment on the bread they bring to the table. It is sour dough bread made from scratch from the chef’s own recipe. Man, is it ever good. (The bread is made and sold directly from the owner’s other venture, The Kitchen, which is a few shops down and on the opposite side of the road.)
And now for our actual meal: To start, we ordered the mussels with frites (small size). Wow!! They were great! More than enough for two people to share. So we didn’t waste the sauce, we asked for a few more pieces of the sour dough bread to sop it up with. Decadent, I know but warranted.

Next up were the two mains that we ordered. We had the evening’s ravioli special. There were five big raviolis stuffed with ricotta and spinach with beets. It was presented beautifully. The flavours all blended together nicely for a smooth, fresh taste.

The mushroom pizza was our second main. It was made with caramelized garlic and onions, mozzarella, gorgonzola, provolone, fontina and asiago cheeses, oh, and the mushrooms too. The flavours of all the cheeses with the mushrooms really burst in your mouth. It is a very rich tasting pizza. As we had eaten so much already, we had one piece of the pizza each and then Laura very kindly put it in a box for us to take home.

As much as we would have loved to have a dessert, we were so stuffed from the mussels, bread and the pasta (and our one slice of pizza each) that we had to pass on the dessert. Next time, though, as we will definitely be back for another meal. And lucky us, we now have pizza to enjoy for lunch tomorrow!!
